Michéle’s writing class is a fabulous experience, it’s a group of people who all share a passion for writing and everyone involved is so supportive of each other. Michéle is an amazing tutor who offers constructive feedback and helps improve people’s confidence not only in their writing but in having the confidence to share their work with others, which leads to a uniquely honest and raw writing experience.

‘Hollow Horizons’ is a powerful evocation of all that slumbers in the deep crevices of the mind. A set of personally felt, poetic narratives spanning “those deep, dark suffocating days” during the Covid-19 Lockdown. There is range, depth and connection to the people and place of Doncaster emotionally infused in every line. Above all, there is a resonance with the fundamental virtues in life, when all else is stripped bare: kindness, friendship, love, appreciation, and hope “As the darkness began to fade...”

– Damian Allen Chief Executive Doncaster Council

Life can be tough. We live in a world where the wrong people seem to be in charge and where too many things go wrong. It’s easy to feel down and think that we will never escape from the madness of things. But when I feel down I think about my friends at PFG Doncaster - always "one graze stronger” - always finding “little bits and pieces from their pockets" to help each other - always seeing the "little shining star” amongst us. Thank you for another gift from the home of true peer support.

“Michele provides an environment to write in that is therapeutic and enables the conditions for growth and positivity. When I leave after the creative writing session my mood is always lifted, I feel lighter, emotional and ready to face the world.”

I really enjoy Michele Beck’s writing group because I haven’t always liked English and I have surprised myself with Michele's support that I can do poetry. Michele provides a safe environment where people can openly share their thoughts and I like this because it is thought provoking and helps with my Mental Health. I also like the fact Michele's creative writing group is kept light even though some topics may be testing at times and we can have fun and laugh too. I like the fact we always do a check-in too”
