I Cast a Line - Glyn Butcher

I cast a line into the fluid water of my mind,

and I caught a dream.

The dream was unexpected,

it had no structure

no form no height or density

it wasn't even alive it lay there isolated,

alone just a memory floating in space, time.

It was flat, a parallel picture of a forgotten dream

I’d had once but unknowingly lost.

Then a bang!

A Sudden explosion,

The possibilities came flooding back

Lighting strikes,

Unwavering, blue.

The dream was attempting to create a new life of its own.

What if, just what if, I can make my dream

What if, just what if, the created could become the creator?

I started to engage in the dream. I started to believe

Adding colour

Structure, form

Until it transformed

Into a 3D movie and I, the main character

I could touch the water,

I could smell the sweet summer

Feel the sun radiating on my face

Hear the kids playing in the distance.

Was it me and my brother from years gone by?

There I was stood in my dream.

A tear welled in my eye.

A crash brought me back around

The man spoke your train as now arrived

please don't leave any luggage behind.
